The EV/Sales multiple (also called the Price/Sales or EV/Revenue ratio) is a valuation metric that divides a company's enterprise value by its total revenues, used primarily to value companies that are unprofitable or that have volatile earnings, making multiples based on EBITDA or earnings uninformative. It provides a floor-level assessment of how the market values each dollar of revenue.
